March in Review

I feel like March was such a lazy month. Honestly looking back on it, we didn't really do much. A lot of it was due to the cold and having a baby, but hopefully in the months to come, as days start getting warmer, we're able to get out a little more. Really looking at this past month there's a bunch of food, and not a whole lot else. But at least it's delicious looking food, right?

In March...
Pesto Risotto
...After seeing Carissa post about pesto risotto, I asked the boy to make some as well. It was pretty good, although not quite as good as his normal mushroom risotto.
Biscuits & Gravy
...The boy also decided to make biscuits and gravy. I'm not normally a big fan of this, although it's really more that I never think about having it, but even so, I thought it was quite delicious.

...I posted reviews of 5 books and 1 movie.
Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder
Infants and Mothers by T. Berry Brezelton, M.D.
Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder
After the War is Over by Jennifer Robson
Race to Tibet by Sophie Schiller
Fifty Shades of Grey
As for a favorite, I actually can't believe I'm about to do this, but I think it's likely Fifty Shades of Grey.

...7 years ago, in 2008 (Crazy to think it's been 7 years!) I posted about my family's trip to Japan. This was actually before the blog really existed, so instead what you're reading are excerpts from e-mails I wrote to the boy, bad grammar and all.

What are some of your highlights from this past March?

  1. What a busy month. How cool that you've been to Japan!

  2. March was kind of a blah month for me, actually. The weather suck, some sad things happened to friends, and worried about my dad mid-month when the incision from his ankle surgery got infected and landed him in the hospital for a couple of days (he recovered and is doing well now but it was tough seeing him so sick)... I think the highlight was probably my 10 mile race and the quiet nights in that I spent with Phil! Oh and we went on a fun date night on the last Sunday of the month.

  3. I'm glad you gave the pesto risotto a try! We usually add chicken and tomatoes to the mix-- sun-dried, roasted cherry tomatoes, or both :) Or sometimes we add a bunch of roasted veggies (zucchini, yellow squash) and just a little pesto. A spritz of lemon and a lots of fresh cracked pepper also are great. Your hubby's mushroom risotto sounds fantastic, and it's a classic preparation I believe. I recently have warmed up to mushrooms, so maybe we'll give that a try soon :)

    1. I love the sound of adding tomatoes! Although the Boy is pretty anti-tomato, and since he pretty much does all our cooking, especially lately, it doesn't seem like something I'll be trying soon. But it definitely does sound delicious!

  4. Looks delicious! I LOVE biscuits and gravy, but being from New York, it's hard to find any restaurants that serve any!

  5. Our highlight from this past March was DEFINITELY our Southern US Road trip where I got to meet four blog friends in real life! It was so fun to experience a whole different part of the US. Now I'm scheming about how to plan more road trips to meet more blog friends :)
