A Million Ways to Die in Maleficent

A Million Ways to Die in the West
I rather enjoyed Ted, and I've been amused by the previews for this, so I was rather looking forward to it. Unfortunately I didn't really seem to live up to my expectations.

This was definitely a case where a movie suffered by having the funniest moments in the trailers. Maybe not the biggest deal for some, but when you go to the movies every week and you've already seen a scene 4 or 5 times, it just isn't funny anymore. I may have even dozed off and taken a nap halfway through, but I think that's more about my pregnancy tiredness than an actual critique of the movie.

Maleficent
This movie was the opposite scenario in which I loved it more than I expected. I absolutely loved the beginning when we saw Maleficent as a young girl. I do think the actual movie wasn't nearly as scary as the preview made it out to be. In that way I do think it surprised me.

There was a bit of a twist at the end, although it's a similar twist you'll find in Frozen so it wasn't that hard to figure out.

I think it's pretty clear which one of these I'd recommend, but in case you want it spelled out, I'd go with Maleficent, and actually I can't wait till I'm able to watch it again.

  1. I keep trying to figure out a time to go see Maleficent. We just seem to be too busy lately.
