In My Mailbox (32)

It's been a few weeks since I've been able to join in, but I'm excited to be back and participating in The Story Siren's In My Mailbox.

Don't Put Me In, Coach by Mark Titus
One of my favorite things about the goodreads giveaways is the chance to pick up books that look interesting, but that I'd probably wouldn't go out and buy. This book is one of those for me. It's written by a former Ohio State basketball player and chronicles his story of sitting the bench at a winning Division I university. What makes his story interesting is that even though he didn't play, he's one of the "winningest" players. This is due to the fact that you only need a year of college to go pro, so that's all the best players play, and they don't play that many college games. While this is supposed to be an inside like on his experience, it's also supposed to be humorous. Again it's something I'm sure I'll enjoy, but on my own probably never would have picked up.

A Good American by Alex George
Then there are those books that you probably would have gotten to anyway, but through a giveaway and an ARC you're able to read it sooner. This one is a historical fiction. It takes place in the earlier 1900s and is about 2 immigrants who settle in Mississippi. I have read about this time period before, but nothing from that time that takes place in the South. I think this one sounds really interesting, and I'm hoping it lives up to expectations.

That's it for me this week. What did you find in your mailbox? And which of the two options, getting a chance to read something you never would have or something you'd pick up eventually, would you prefer to have sent to you?
