The Fault in Our Boys

The Fault in Our Stars
Yes, I finally saw it, and it was well worth the wait. I'm not sure there's much to say here that hasn't already been said, but I absolutely adored it.

It was definitely just like seeing the book come alive on screen. In someways it didn't actually feel like a movie, because it was so close to the book. It was really more like reading the book and watching the events occur in my mind. Yes, there were some details and minor plot points that were dropped, but it didn't really feel like it was missing anything.

There's still a few scenes that I keep replaying over and over again in my mind. I can't wait to see it again, and I'd also love to give the book a reread soon.

Jersey Boys
I definitely know who Frankie Valli is, and I know some of his songs (although watching the movie learned how many songs of his I didn't realize were his), but besides that I didn't know much about his life. I'll be honest, a lot of the reason I wanted to see this was because it was a musical, and knowing Clint Eastwood directed it made it easier to get the boy to agree to it.

It did start off slow though, and overall was a really long movie. I did enjoy it though, but can't necessarily see myself sitting down to watch it again.

Overall, a weekend of two completely different movies, but each good in their own way. Although I think it's pretty clear the one I'd most recommend seeing.

  1. I really want to see both of these movies. I loved "The Fault In Our Stars" book so it's good to hear the movie doesn't ruin it!

  2. Fault was SO well done!! I needed a good sob and I got it! I actually grew up with the screenwriter, so I was so glad to see it well written!

  3. I am so glad to hear that the movie was good. I read the book in a day and have been chomping at the bit to see the movie but concerned it would let me down!

  4. I want to go to TFiOS but I kind of want to re-read the book first... which means I probably will not see the movie while it's in the theater as I don't see myself re-reading the book soon enough. But I have heard nothing but good things about it!
