It's a Baby!

As you may have seen yesterday, the boy and I are currently expecting! I'm almost 13 weeks along, so just out of the first trimester. I've obviously known for a while, but was always planning on waiting to post on blog. Which does mean I never wrote anything down.
Positive
Two Lines
I was sure that wouldn't be a problem and that when I sat down to write about it (aka now) I would remember all the details. Except that isn't quite the case. If I could go back, I definitely would have written down thoughts immediately, and edited it closer to the post date. Live and learn, right? So I'll do my best, but I'm sure I'll be forgetting details along the way.
6 Weeks
6 Weeks
I was about a week late which wasn't a huge freak out since I hadn't been completely regular since I'd gone off BC. Especially since the past 2 times prior I was also late and was sure I was pregnant, except as multiple tests told me that wasn't the case.

7 Weeks
Even so, I wanted to wait till the day before Passover started (about 10 days at that point) to confirm. After all if I was pregnant I knew I didn't want to drink 4 glasses of wine.

8 Weeks
Except before I had the chance to test I found myself gagging while brushing my teeth. I didn't think anything of it, since we've all had those times. But then it happened again the following morning.

9 Weeks
At work later that day I googled to see if it was possible that nausea while brushing teeth was related to pregnancy, and sure enough it was! One of the first things I did once I got home that day was brush my teeth just to see if I imagined it. But it happened yet again.
10 Weeks
10 Weeks
Any sane person would have tested at that point. But it was still 3 days before Passover, and I wanted to test the day before, so that was when I was going to do it. Part of me was a little scared to, after all if it was going to be negative at least I'd have a few extra days of potential bliss.
11 Weeks
11 Weeks
Although looking back the teeth brushing incident probably wasn't even the first sign. A week prior someone was heating up tuna noodle casserole in the microwave at work and I practically ran out of the room because of how awful it smelled to me. I didn't think anything of it, since warm tuna isn't normally a pleasant aroma, but I'm pretty sure there was more going on there.
12 Weeks
12 Weeks
Finally though the day before Passover arrived. Of course I woke up far to early especially considering it was a Sunday. I even tried to go back to sleep, but gave up because I had to know. Sure enough though, two lines slowly appeared!
13 Weeks
13 Weeks
I tried to wake the boy up, but I'm pretty sure his response was that it was too early for him see anything! But eventually he woke up and was just as excited.

If you have a baby how long did you wait before testing? Or how long do you think you could potentially wait before knowing for sure?

  3. I already said "Congratulations!" yesterday!!! But I'm still excited with you!!!

With Sam I only tested because it suddenly hit me that my period was about a week late. It was an exhausting time and I just hadn't clued in :)

With Rachel, we were trying (and had been for about six months, including a miscarriage), and I felt nauseous drinking a Ginger Ale, and eating breakfast a couple of mornings in a row but didn't want to test too early. I tested after two days and it was all good :)

I can't wait to follow along on your pregnancy journey.

  4. Congratulations! How exciting - you look great :)
We were getting ready to fly to San Francisco for a mini vacation and it occurred to me that it had been about a month and a half since my last period (NOT a big deal here) and even though I was sure I wasn't I went and bought a test because I wanted to drink lots of wine on vacation. Was totally floored when in came back positive . Then I went back to Walgreens and bought a 3 pack. When they all came back postive too, I finally believed it, LOL :)
Enjoy your pregnancy - it really is a magical time!

  5. CONGRATS!! You look so great and I am so excited for you and the Boy! If I had a hunch that I was pregnant I would need to take the test RIGHT AWAY. But, like you, I would wait until I was 12-13 weeks before sharing the news broadly.

I hope you are starting to feel a little less tired!!

  6. Congrats! I missed your announcement yesterday, but I'm so excited for you! I must admit, I've had a sneaking suspicion for awhile that you might be, just a gut feeling after I read some of your comments and I'm glad to see you are! I tested almost immediately after I thought I was and the test came back negative, so I waited about four more days and tested again and it was positive. I remember thinking either I was pregnant or something was really wrong with me, because I just felt so off and had a bunch of weird symptoms.

  8. I am so so so happy for you Shoshanah! Congratulations! I tested on the day before my period was supposed to start but the line was so faint it almost looked like nothing. I tested again the next day with a fancy early test and it was positive! I was totally expecting it to be negative because I had several negatives in the months prior.

  9. Congrats again! I took a test bc my period was like 1 or 2 weeks late (I don't even remember) but I'm not to regular to begin with so I didn't really think anything of it. I just grabbed one at the store to be sure and sure enough 2 pink lines IMMEDIATELY haha

  10. Congrats! It has been many years, of course, since I went through this—I am a grandmother now!—but back in the day, the early tests were not available and we had to miss two periods before going to the doctor. That changed a little between my first and fourth pregnancies...then we could test after the first missed period.

Enjoy your pregnancy...once you get over the nausea! I remember that very well....

  14. ahhhhhh! I missed your news, but so many congratulations! I hope you're feeling better by now!

I never really blogged my pregnancy much, and actually, I was fairly far along when I found out, because I had almost no symptoms that would make me think I was!

  15. I'm so happy for you and the boy!! I would probably walk in the footsteps of my best friend who is now 24 weeks pregnant - she shared with close friends and family RIGHT away (like the night she took the pregnancy test) but didn't share it with the world until she was around 14 weeks!
