They're Borowers!

The Secret World of Arrietty
Going into this I knew it was based on the Borrowers books I enjoyed growing. To be honest I don't remember a lot about them besides the basic idea, and that I really enjoyed them. (I don't think I read the entire series, but know I at least got to book 3 or 4.)

I actually thought this was a really cute movie and had a lot of fun. It definitely felt like the Japanese movie it was, with the songs, the dialogue and really just the overall feel of the movie. I think partly because of this, it felt like a little more of an adult movie.

But there were A LOT of kids in the theater, and most of them seemed to get bored throughout the movie. More ridiculous to me was how many parents seemed to be bored. I can't remember the last time I was in a theater and saw so many people on their phones throughout the movie. However they was a group of pre-teen boys sitting behind us and they seemed to love it.

It did wound up being a really cute movie, and a pleasant surprise. Leaving the theater, I couldn't help but want to go back and reread the entire series again, and hopefully I'll have the chance too!

  1. I have to admit that this movie does look pretty cute! Thanks for your review. I didn't realize it was a book series too!
