Breathe by Abbi Glines
I think the best word to describe this one really is just cute. In it Sadie White spends her summer not life-guarding or any of the other normal teenage jobs, but instead as a housekeeper. Except it turns out the house it owned by Jax Stone the hottest teen sensation. In case you couldn't guess they fall in love, but what happens when the summer ends?
In a lot of ways this book reminded me of all the fan fiction I used to read back in high school. Except for the fact that Jax Stone isn't real, nor is he a Backstreet Boy. But like all those stories I used to love, the whole thing just seemed fake and over the top, and in some ways like a modern day fairytale that would never actually happen.
A lot of the dialogue didn't seem to work and just felt a little too formal. It was almost as if people were speaking the way you would write, instead of how you would speak. I would imagine that writing dialogue and getting it to flow and feel really isn't easy, but there were times that it just didn't work for me.
But even with the complaints I really liked Sadie, and Jax was the perfect rock star. As I started off with, it really is a cute book, and as long as you're not looking for something too substantial I think you'd have fun with this.
