Robbin the Hood

Robin Hood
If I'm completely honest I did want to see this. (I just can't admit that to the boy so I can earn movie picks later this summer!) While I didn't necessarily want to see all the action and fighting, it was somewhat of a historical fiction movie. Clearly it's not 100% historical, but there's definitely some historical truth. After all Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lion Heart did exist.

While you think you know the story of Robin Hood, this movie isn't that story. Instead it tells the story of an archer who comes home from the crusades, and how he becomes the Robin Hood. It's funny because a few of the key "Robin Hood" moments from the previews are only in the last 5 minutes of the film. In a way, it was a little refreshing to see a somewhat different take on a story we've heard numerous times.

While it was enjoyable, it wasn't my favorite Robin Hood movie of all time. That is still held by the Disney animated movie! Anyone else have a favorite Robin Hood movie?

  5. All I've ever seen is the cartoon....I too wanted to see this one really bad! Russell Crowe hasn't been in a good movie for awhile, I think I'll wait until it comes out on DVD though!

  6. We are going to see this tonight! Eric LOVES Russell Crowe (Gladiator is his favourite movie of all time) and he's ridiculously excited. I'm actually a big fan of action movies so I'm sure I'll enjoy it too! But I agree - best Robin Hood movie ever was made by Disney ;)

  7. Great review. This is definitely on my to-see list!

Thanks for your visit to Ramblings & More. I do intend to watch The Time Traveler's Wife again now that I've read the book. I think I might like it better.
