The Seduction of the Crimson Rose by Lauren Willig

The more I read this series, the more and more I fall in love with it. I think part of it is that each one introduces new characters, yet all the older characters are still part of the world. It's like a jigsaw puzzle in a bit, just remembering who everyone was, what happened in their love story, and how they all fit together.
The Crimson Rose tells the story of Mary Alsworthy, who appeared in the book 3 of the series, The Deception of the Emerald Ring, as the sister of the main character. I actually went into this thinking I wouldn't be found of Mary considering how she was portrayed in the last, but even so, wound up really happy with the way she was written.
As much as I love these books I can at least see the complaints. The love story is so predictable and you know from the first chapter exactly who will be falling in love with who. But at least there's still a mystery in each one, and that is the suspenseful part in each.
I know there's still a ton of books in the series, but I believe the final one was just published, or at least it's about to be, so there is an end in sight. No idea how long it will take me to get through them all, but I'm sure I'll have a blast on the way.
5/5

I've really enjoyed the ones I've read of these. Unfortunately I didn't get this one finished before I had to return it to the library. Someone had a hold on it, so now I just have to remember to pick it up next time I'm there!
ReplyDeleteI would probably like this series a lot. I'll have to pick it up sometime.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree! This definitely seems like a series you'd really enjoy.
