Spring Has Sprung

Now that's it's starting to get warm, everything is slowly starting to bloom in our backyard.

To be honest, I really have no idea what most of the plants in our backyard are called.

I'm just hoping not to kill all the plants in the time that we're living here.

I really love our backyard. It's honestly one of the main reasons we bought the house.

I'm really looking forward to being able to spend more time in it as the days get warmer.
Kumquait Tree
I'm also looking forward to all the fruit trees being in bloom. The one above is a kumquat tree, if you look carefully you can see the orange fruit.
Possibly a Satsuma Tree
There's also a satsuma tree, and I think it might be this one. I believe there's a few other fruit trees, but I'm probably going to have to wait till there's actual fruit to find out what they all are.

Of course there's one negative with having such a awesomely big backyard.
Mowing the Lawn
Although I'm doing my best to stay lawnmower free!

Any ideas as to the names of some of these plants? Or any guesses as to what fruit trees we might have back here? Finally, if you could have any fruit tree in your backyard, which would you pick?

  1. I'm no botanist, but I'm pretty sure the one on top with the pretty pink flowers is an Azalea

  2. Oh my gosh, I have backyard envy! What a gorgeous space.

I am also of no help in identifying anything! I am terrible with plants/trees/etc.

If I could have any fruit tree in my backyard, I would have to choose an apple tree. Or an orange. Or anything, really! :)

  3. Beautiful! And one way you can get out of lawn mower duty...cut the yard in wobbly lines. That's what I always did and it worked like a charm. I've only mowed twice in my life!

  5. I am pretty sure the first picture is azaleas... the second looks like a hibiscus... but it could also be an azalea as well. :)

  7. My dad is big into landscaping, so I know a little bit about flowers. The second one is definitely an azalea. Sorry to disagree with the others, and I may be wrong, but I don't think the top one is an azalea. The leaves and the stigmas of the flowers don't look like an azalea, but it may just be an unusual variety. I have a kumquat tree and a meyer lemon "bush" - I looove the meyer lemons, and lemons do great in louisiana. Fig trees do awesome there too, and I love figs, they are so wonderful right off the tree.
