The Reason Why Cavemen Drew on the Walls

This past weekend was our first anniversary. So what did I do to celebrate? I spent the weekend with my original husband in Houston, TX.
Acoustic Set
Yes, I abandoned my husband the weekend of our first anniversary to see the Backstreet Boys in concert. Although technically since it was a long weekend, I was back the day before our actual anniversary. Don't feel too sorry for the boy though, I'm pretty sure he enjoyed his time alone. Plus I have a feeling he's always going to hold it over my head that I abandoned him, and eventually feel the need to abandon me as payback.

As for the actual weekend away, it was pretty awesome. A friend and I road tripped out to Houston, where we found time to visit both Panera and Ikea, as well as head over to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion to see the boys.
Brian & Baylee Littrell
The show actually started with Brian coming on stage with his son Baylee, who performed Fantasy and then I Want You Back. Not only is Baylee adorable, but he's a pretty awesome singer for a 10-year-old. I'm sure we'll be hearing more from him in the years to come!
Also if you look closely in the picture and the video above, you can see Brian's wife, Leighanne, who came out a stage side door for the performance and videoed the whole thing on her ipad.
DJ Pauly D
After Baylee left the stage we saw both B5 and DJ Pauly D perform, before it was time for the boys.
KTBSPA
By the venue's rules I wasn't able to bring my fancy new camera, and had to settle for my halfway broken point-and-shoot. But thankfully we were close enough (about 20 rows back), to get a least a few decent shots.

Since this post wouldn't be complete without a performance by the boys, here they are singing an old favorite,
as well as Breathe, a song off their new album, In a World Like This.
So maybe it's wasn't the normal first year wedding anniversary, but that's how the timing worked out!

What did you do for your anniversary? And what musician would you abandon your significant other for?

  1. Sounds like a fun weekend! I know how much you adore BSB so I can see why you chose that over an anniversary celebration. Plus you were back for your actual anniversary which is what matters most IMO!
